the Big Day approaches

Today is July 4, 2010. The day our country celebrates its Independence from Britain and tyranny. Tomorrow is the first day of a month of independence from dogs and work for us. How appropriate. We are packed (for the most part) and ready to go. I believe the only things left to pack are Bob's clothes, a good toolbox and a few odds and ends. It's so hot though that we are waiting for the sun to go down a bit before attempting such a task.

The bikes are resting comfortably on the trailer. We went to the Flying J (also know as the Flying Hook", or "The Hook" for the truck-stop novices) to dump the black water tank and fill up on fuel and grabbed some lunch while we were there.
Bob put chocks on the trailer for the motorcycles and they are doing a lovely job. He thinks, and I tend to agree, that we will want to do something a little different on the rear straps to the bikes but other than that all rode well. I had to laugh when we were at the J; as Bob pulled away from the pump I noticed his tail lights on the Harley flashing. It was because the bike was rocking slightly and the alarm was going off. That was great.

I was looking at the rig over all, getting ready to snap a picture and I realized that really; how much more did we need to feed our inner child? We have the bikes, a playhouse, and a damm fine truck to haul us around. We'll be playing in the great openness of the West, visiting with friends and seeing new sights. Can't possibly get any better than this.
